Biology - Library use

In-house use

The licensed electronic journals can be used at terminals in the central library and from all computers on campus. Members of Goethe University may also use them via remote access. A large part of the more up-to-date stock of printed periodicals is freely accessible in the Natural Sciences Reading Room on the second floor, and may also be borrowed. Please consult the online catalogue for details on specific items.

The vast majority of the extensive Biology Collection is shelved in closed stacks and must be ordered for loan or use in the reading room via the general catalogue.

Books which you can't (or don't want to) lend can be used in any of our reading rooms. The Sciences Reading Room on the second floor also offers a collection of important biological reference books in open stacks.
For the use of more valuable works, the presentation of an identity card may be required.

Inter-library loans, document delivery service

Users from other libraries can order the borrowable collections of the Biology Collection in their respective home library via inter-library loan (for this you must be registered as a user of your home library). Alternatively, literature can be ordered through a document delivery service such as Subito .
