The Art-Library/Städel-Library and the Library of Islamic Studies
The Art-Library and Städel-Library (Bibliothek Kunstgeschichte/Städelbibliothek und Islamische Studien) are located in Bockenheim and combine to form a national specialist library for Art and Architectural History, the largest of its kind in the Rhine-Main area.
The Art library also houses the library of the Institute for Islamic Cultural and Religious Studies which is a reference library only and is situated on the first floor.

Using the Art Library/Städel-Library and the Library of Islamic Studies
The Art library is open to the public as a reference library.
Very valuable rare books may only be referred to until 16.00 and on production of a personal identity card/passport. On Fridays the items can only be used until 14.00 and only when they have been pre-ordered by mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org
The entire stocks of the Art-Library and Städel-Library are recorded in the online catalogue. The books are systematically arranged according to the Regensburger Verbundklassifikation and are in open access.
LockersBefore entering the library you are kindly asked to deposit your coats and bags in the lockers provided in the basement. You have to bring a padlock with you to lock up your belongings. Food and drink are not permitted in the rooms of the Art-Library and Städel-Library.
Copy machinesCopy machines in the library are for use by members of the University who possess a Goethecard or a library card of the JCS University Library. Cards can be re-loaded in the Juridicum café and in front of the Mensa. External visitors can ask at the Info counter to use the guest card.
